FEE EXEMPTION FOR FACULTY, STAFF, AND DEPENDENTS

Based on a policy adopted by the Board of Trustees concerning reduced fees for on-campus courses* taken by employees and their dependents, the following policy is applicable to Louisiana Tech University employees.

1. Full-time employees are eligible to take courses based on a reduced fee schedule if the employee has completed two (2) continuous years as a full-time employee. A reduced fee schedule for employees is available from the Business Office.)

2. The spouse and dependents (children) of a full-time employee who has completed five (5) continuous years as a full-time employee are eligible to enroll for undergraduate instruction only based on a reduced fee schedule. Children of employees are not eligible under this policy after the child has attained the age of twenty-three (23) years. (A reduced fee schedule for spouses and dependents is available from the Business Office.)

3. A retired employee or their spouse who was taking course(s) in the summer of 1991 is eligible to continue taking courses if the course(s) are applicable to a degree program. Children of retired employees who were taking course(s) in the spring or summer of 1991 are eligible to continue taking courses if the course(s) are applicable to a degree program. Employees retiring after July 1991 are not eligible for this benefit.

4. The spouse or dependents (children) of an employee who died while employed at Louisiana Tech University are eligible for the above reduced fees if the employee met the requirements as specified in item 2 above.

5. Employees of an institution under the Board of Trustees transferring from that institution to Louisiana Tech University may count those continuous years of service at the other institution toward the minimum years service requirements of this policy.

6. Classified and unclassified employees will not be allowed to take a course during regular office hours without special permission from the appropriate supervisor. Civil Service requires that classified employees must either make up work missed or take annual leave for work missed, with the approval of their supervisor. Unclassified employees are required to function effectively and meet job requirements, regardless of time away from the office.

* "On-campus courses" include Barksdale courses but exclude Extension courses.
