| 21 | Federal Grants and Contracts includes all restricted amounts received from federal agencies for specific research, training, instructional or similar activities. |
| 22 | State Grants and Contracts includes all restricted amounts received from state agencies for specific research, training, instructional or similar activities. |
| 23 | Local Grants and Contracts includes all restricted amounts received from local agencies for specific research, training, instructional or similar activities. |
| 24 | Private Gifts, Grants and Contracts includes all restricted amounts received from private sources for specific research, training, instructional or similar activities, as well as unrestricted amounts received from private sources for general use. |
| 30 | Indirect Cost Recovery includes amounts received to recover University administrative costs associated with grants and contracts. |
| 35 | Endowment Income includes amounts received from benefactors who, by the terms of their conveying instruments, have stipulated that the principal of their gift may never be expended. Also includes the earnings received from the investment of such gifts. |
| 40 | Advertising includes amounts received from the sale of advertising space in various University publications. |
| 41 | Underwriting includes amounts received from sponsors as a guarantee of financial support. |
| 42 | Commissions includes amounts received for transacting a piece of business or performing a service. |

| 50 | Interest includes amounts earned on University investments. |
