Specialized Lab Technician

The College of Engineering and Science (COES) at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for the position of Specialized Lab Technician. This position requires an Associate degree in a technical field and/or specialized technical training and experience. Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools is required. Demonstrated skills in welding and the use of an acetylene cutting torch are also required. Responsibilities include: providing advanced level technician support for the design, fabrication, installation, modification and testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of scientific equipment for research and academic projects used within the College; consultation with faculty and students regarding equipment and supply needs; assistance with specifications, contact with vendors; submission of purchase requisitions; maintaining inventory; instruction of students in proper operation of equipment; demonstration of correct and safe operating procedures; assigning tasks and supervising equipment operation to ensure correct and safe operating procedures are followed; maintaining safety equipment and safe storage procedures for hazardous materials and other duties assigned in various COES research facilities.
