Louisiana Tech University invites applicants for a Department Chair position in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership. A previously advertised anticipated position is now open with an expected beginning date of June 1, 2008. While applications may be accepted until the position is filled, to ensure full consideration applications should be received by January 7, 2008.

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate from a fully accredited university and evidence of high quality teaching as well as scholarly activity including a defined line of research, publications, and successful external funding. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of successful leadership, experience with accreditation processes, and experience working with and developing partnerships with K-12 schools as well as previous experience working in the K-12 setting.

The Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Leadership is housed within the College of Education and offers the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in a variety of teacher education programs. Certification pathways include elementary grades PK-3 and 1-5, middle school grades 4-8, and secondary grades 6-12. Faculty members are nationally known for publications, research, presentations, and exemplifying best practices in teaching and learning. All teacher education programs have been approved by the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Board of Regents, and NCATE.
