 Position Announcement

POSITION: Instructor, Merchandising: 9-month appointment, 80% teaching, 5% research, 15% service: non-tenure-track position to begin September 1, 2009.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The faculty member will be expected to:

• Teach undergraduate courses (campus-based and online) in one of the following two areas: the area of global merchandising, buying and sourcing, and/or other merchandising topics as needed; the area of visual merchandising, personal selling, and/or other merchandising topics as needed.
• Collaborate with faculty and students on research and scholarly activities
• Advise undergraduate students
• Participate in professional, university, and community service

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles, or closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required; at least one degree through Family and Consumer Sciences preferred. Applicants should have proficient knowledge of computer applications related to MCS. Preference will be given to individuals with teaching and retail industry experience.

SALARY AND RANK: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

THE SCHOOL: The Merchandising and Consumer Studies program (B.S. Degree) is housed in the School of Human Ecology in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences (www.ans.latech.edu). Other programs in the School include:

 • B.S. degrees in Family and Child Studies; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; and Nutrition and Dietetics
• M.S. degrees in Family and Consumer Sciences and Nutrition and Dietetics

The School of Human Ecology has an enrollment of approximately 260 undergraduate and 44 graduate students and 12 faculty positions. Further information is available at www.latech.edu.
