LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY
COMPUTING CENTER

The Louisiana Tech Computing Center is seeking to fill a position on its professional staff for a Network Specialist having good desktop and networking support skills. This person will report to the Manager of Academic Services who is responsible for supporting various University client/server products and University help desk. This position requires working closely with faculty, staff, and students resolving their computer problems, good verbal and written skills, and the ability to assist with maintaining various software products and equipment. The University provides a diversified and progressive networking environment for students and employees, utilizing assorted Novell, Unix, and Microsoft servers on the campus network.

Ruston, Louisiana is located in the piney hills of north Louisiana with a population of about 25,000. It offers both outstanding public and private school systems and a great place to raise a family. Employees enjoy a small-town atmosphere while living within an hour’s drive of two major cities. The college atmosphere offers many exciting entertainment and educational opportunities, as well as an environment to work on challenging projects. The Computing Center consists of a small, team-oriented staff making a major difference–come be a part of it!

Job Requirements:

• College degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field (or substantial work experience)
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office
• work experience in computer support
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to solve problems independently
• Desire to be a team player within a large organization
• Proven ability to function within an IT help desk
• Positive interaction with Center staff and university community

Preference given to candidates with experience in:

• Novell products (EG Zenworks, Edirectory, Imanager, etc.)
• Macintosh operating systems
• Management of network operating systems in an IP-based environment
• Desktop imaging
