Faculty Fellowships
Institute for Micromanufacturing (IfM) and
Center for Biomedical Engineering and Rehabilitation Science (CBERS)
Louisiana Tech University
Purpose:
- To promote broad interdisciplinary collaboration of science and
engineering with arts, humanities and social and behavioral sciences
faculty at Louisiana Tech
- To stimulate productivity of faculty in all fields by broadening the
understanding of the interactions of technology and society
- To increase awareness of bio , micro and nanotechnology on campus
and off campus
- To initiate joint projects and programs, and
- To inspire faculty for novel breakthrough science, art and
technology enterprises
Eligibility: Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty in College of Liberal
Arts, College of Education, or College of Business at Louisiana Tech
University
Fellowship Duration: Six Months (January – June, July through
December). Fellows will fulfill normal departmental faculty
responsibilities; the fellowship is considered an additional professional
development opportunity.
Fellow Expectations:
- Initial Presentation to IfM/CBERS Faculty and Staff
- Summary Presentation and Recommendation to IfM/CBERS Faculty and
Staff, including professional and scholarly contribution (e.g., art
exhibition or music composition for presentation at IfM/CBERS, scholarly
article on technology and society)
- Attending IfM/CBERS meetings and presentations, including laboratory
group meetings, as invited and as scheduled
- Participation as associate member of IfM Leadership Team (bi weekly
meetings)
- Identify opportunities for proposals for external funding from state
or federal agencies
Fellow Benefits:
- Office in IfM during Fellowship Duration, with computer access
- Travel support ($2000) and supplies as needed
- Access to labs, faculty and administrative support in IfM
- Fellowship certificate and permanent recognition
Application Procedure: C. V. with One Page letter of application
suggesting type of professional or scholarly contribution that would result
from fellowship period, and personal goals for involvement with IfM and
CBERS. Submit C.V. and letter to Jeanette Futrell, Administrative Assistant
