Government Documents/Reference Librarian
Louisiana Tech University

The library is a Federal regional depository with over 2.6 million documents.

Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS; knowledge of Federal Depository Library Program guidelines and practices; knowledge of Louisiana Public Document Depository Program guidelines and practices; experience with print, electronic and Internet library instruction; knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources; experience with integrated library systems; ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students; excellent oral and written communication skills; experience providing information services and a second graduate degree is preferred.

Responsibilities: Primary oversight of state/federal regional depository and USGS map depository; serve as Government Documents Specialist in the Reference Department and provide in-depth document reference service.

Duties: Duties include staffing the Reference Desk during daytime, night and weekend rotation schedule, database searching, collection development, technical processing of documents and other duties as assigned.

Salary/ Rank: Competitive starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Twelve month, tenure-track position at the appointment rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 2014. Competitive benefit package.

Main campus is located in Ruston, a city of 22,000 in the rolling piney hills of north Louisiana and conveniently located between the two metropolitan areas of Monroe and Shreveport and two recreational state parks. Prescott Memorial Library, with a staff of 20, is a member of the LOUIS statewide library consortium, as well as LYRASIS and OCLC.
